IAN ARTHUR
Ian Arthur is a great actor who trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of
Music and Drama. He has performed in a number of IRDP radio productions, such as
Restless Farewell by William
George Q and The Knucker Hole by Karen Sainsbury, both winning plays
in the
Woolwich Young Radio Playwrights'
Competition. He was also outstanding as Billy in the three week run of Restless
Farewell on stage at the Battersea Arts Centre in September 1996 which
received excellent press reviews:

"William George Q's Restless Farewell presents the reunion of four
university pals at the wake of their friend Graham. While leathering their way
through his bereaved wife's drinks cabinet, they go through the reminiscent
motions. But this is a lot more than just a series of "Wasn't it funny
when...?" yarns, because Graham's computer, the repository of his thoughts
and feelings, is a virtual character in its own right. And while the gloriously
enigmatic Callum (Justin Skelton) 'hacks' his way into the truth, the group's
notions of past and present are infected by the ghost of Graham's hard drive.
The set is dominated by a huge projection of the VDU screen, and much sport has
obviously been had in designing the slides that go with it. But the real sparkle
takes place on the sofa between Ally (Rupert Degas), Dougie (Craig Elliott) and
Billy (Ian Arthur) as they banter their way through the night."
(Julia Walsh, What's On)
"The laddishness of the characters is beautifully handled - the boys
are very different and each of them had a singular relationship with the dead
friend (Graham) and this is wonderfully conveyed. Truly, you are on a journey
with these characters." (Helen Taylor, Wandsworth
Borough News)
Ian's work in theatre also includes a large number of performances at Perth
Theatre: Season's Greetings, Peter Pan, Tea In A China Cup,
Cinderella, Peril at End House, Joseph's Technicolour Dream
Coat and A Wee Touch Of Class. In London, in addition to the BAC
performances mentioned above, he has also played the part of John Merrick in
The Elephant Man at The Brockley Jack Theatre.
His television credits include Born Kicking (Screen One), The
Interrogation of John (Screen Two), Blind Justice (Screen One), The
Diary of Rita Patel (Screen Two) and the lead in Fancy Seeing You,
all for BBC TV.
As well as his radio performances for IRDP, Ian has also worked for BBC
Radio: he played the part of Neil Kinnock in Prize Giving, Will O'Hara
in Fifteen Love and the regular part of Kenny Hamilton in Citizens.
