"I see you have brought a stranger," Madame Zuleika muttered.
"Hi!" said Sarah, faintly.
"Silence!" snapped Madame Zuleika. "A stranger from far away," she continued, fixing Sarah with a glittering stare. Sarah shifted nervously in her seat. Madame Zuleika smiled slightly. "She will be a friend to Carmen."
Madame Zuleika bent over the crystal ball again. She said not a word. At last Carmen whispered: "What do you see, Madame? What will happen at the bullfight tomorrow?"
Madame Zuleika raised her eyebrows, as if something she had seen in her crystal ball had surprised her. "I see there is another stranger, a boy. Another good friend, but hot-headed." Once again, a strange smile flitted across her lips.
"Trust the music!" she murmured. "Now go! Leave me to my dreams!"
