LBC Internet Play of the Month

Modern Echoes for Easter

Modern Echoes for Easter is a compilation of extracts from short plays produced as part of the first London Radio Playwrights' Festival in 1990, and a documentary on the process of workshops and recordings which resulted from the festival. Modern Echoes for Easter won a Gold Medal for Best Arts and Culture programming at the International Radio Festival of New York in 1991. Many of the writers taking part in the London Radio Playwrights' Festival over the years have gone on to achieve great success, and the festival continues every year with a programme of workshops and a play competition, culminating in a day-long event including an awards ceremony celebrating the work of the winning writers, as well as radio and internet broadcasts of the winning plays. Previous winners in the festival include Martin McDonagh, Paul Sirett, Karen Hope, Tony Bagley, Jose Antonio (Tony) Duarte, James Payne, Ken Armstrong, Anna McGrail, Wendy Lee, Neville Watchurst, Francis Beckett, Crysse Morrison, Alistair Roberts, Marcus Lloyd, David Turner, Gella Richards, Tom Newell, and many other excellent writers.
